This allows us to gladly offer nutritional evaluation and counseling.  Initial evaluation is $75. This can sometimes be filed with your health insurance. Follow up visits are $45 each. Prices do not include the cost of supplements.

Nutritional evaluation has four parts:

1. Thorough history and examination including the Tanita scale which measures among other things percent body fat and hydration factors, Dip stick Urinalysis and Iodine patch test associated with thyroid function.

2. Computerized soft tissue evaluation to determine structural and musculoskeletal imbalances that may contribute to poor body function. The thermal scan can assess soft tissue inflammation. The surface EMG  scan can assess muscle spasm and tension.

3. Symptom Survey Questionnaire.  This consists of 197 questions about how your body functions. Do your eyes itch? Is your skin dry?  Answers are entered into a computer program that is designed to evaluate metabolic status and identify those nutritional factors that are either excessive or insufficient. These details are printed in a customized 4-6 page health assessment report.

4. Review of findings with recommendations of detox or supplementation as well as any life style changes necessary to achieve the goals set by the patient and doctor.

Follow up visits are scheduled for 4-6 weeks later. At this time we repeat the symptom survey questionnaire to see which concerns have been resolved and which need continued attention.

Nutritional evaluation is usually broken into two separate visits one week apart. (Both days are included in the initial fee.) This allows the doctor time to gather any previous pertinent medical records. This also allows the patient time to record a one week diet diary, measure basal metabolic temperature over several mornings, as well as review any assigned reference material.

Dr. Ellan Asks some important questions of interest to Jacksonville residents - Chiropractor Jacksonville Dr. Ellan Asks...

Can someone who has had back surgery receive chiropractic care?
Yes. Rest assured that we will avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine. However, what we find is that surgical interventions will often produce spinal instability above or below the involved level. This is will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Jacksonville parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
